Eight Twelve Thirteen

The Moravian Daily Texts come to my e-mail every morning.  This was the prayer included this morning:

Everlasting God, you extend your righteous hand. Let us feel your touch. You inspire and encourage us in the face of our troubles. Help us to know all strength comes through you. We worship and adore you. Amen.

There are times when I don't feel well.  It's during those times that I long for a word of reassurance or affirmation.  A hug from someone.  A listening ear.  A friend.

This past Sunday I felt two hands on my shoulders where my stole was when we prayed the Lord's prayer.  I doubt that two hands were really there - but the sensation of someone touching me, holding me down, and holding me up - was something I experienced.

The night ended with a kayak on Lake Wausau during sunset.  Although I went with two others, there was a moment while we were paddling and I felt so peaceful.  When we were done, the smell of lake water on my hands comforted me to a place of relaxation.  And, when I got home I put on my slippers and finished the day with some work to ready myself for the week.

I was encouraged and comforted by God when I needed it.  This weekend there was a little bit of respite and I was reminded once again that all strength does from God.  Praise and thanks to you, God - the One we worship and adore.
